Public project launch
2024-09-20 newsAfter a successful private Proof of Concept phase, we are ready to take the next step, which is developing a production ready solution.
This is the first public announcement of our project Asfaload which aims to develop a solution to help secure and authenticate downloads from the internet. We have decided to develop our solution in an open and transparent way, hoping to foster discussion with a community of interested people. Being a small team, we need to rapidly get feedback and hope that releasing often and fast will help us build a solid and relevant solution, or fail fast.
All our software will be developed under the Asfaload Github organisation. We already published our first tool, asfd, which automatically validates integrity of files downloaded with it using checksums.
Our PoC validating both integrity and authenticity was developed on Moonbeam, a Polkadot parachain providing an EVM, allowing the development of smart contracts using well tested Ethereum development tools. Our production version will also be built on Moonbeam, based on the lessons learned during the PoC.
